Lacrosse (from the French *la crosse*, meaning “stick”) is a team sport in which two teams compete to score goals against each other using a rubber ball, their feet, and a special stick. The head of the stick is woven with a loose net designed to catch and hold the ball.
The game was invented in Canada and has spread to many countries around the world. Lacrosse is one of the sports included in the Summer Olympic Games program.
