🌳 How Cork Is Harvested from the Cork Oak

Cork is harvested from the cork oak during a specific season when the bark peels off naturally. It can be removed without causing irreversible damage to the tree, and it regenerates approximately 12 times over the course of the tree’s life.

The bark is removed in sections, rather than all at once. The raw material is sorted: the first-grade material is sent for the production of corks for vintage wines and cognacs, while the second-grade material is sent to a factory that manufactures building insulation and sound absorbers.
