🪴 Plants sleep and wake up just like people

Plants sleep and wake up just like we humans do. They have their own biological clocks that regulate cycles of activity similar to our sleep-wake cycles.

Plant sleep is the periodic closing (and subsequent opening) of their parts—primarily flower petals—over the course of a day. This phenomenon is called nyctinastic movement and is caused by the alternation of day and night.

This occurs to protect against adverse weather conditions, such as rain or cold, as well as to prevent moisture loss and ward off pests.
