Solar Tsunami

What we see in the video is called a Morton wave or a “solar tsunami.” Essentially, it is a shock wave that propagates through the solar corona. Such solar tsunamis form during solar flares. They are named after the American astronomer Gale Morton, who was the first to discover them and measure their speed, which ranges from 500 to 1,500 km/s.
